Types of Shoulder Replacement

Different shoulder replacement procedures may be considered depending on the condition of the shoulder joint and surrounding tissues.

01

Total Shoulder Replacement

The damaged surfaces of the shoulder joint are replaced with prosthetic components. This may be considered in selected patients with severe arthritis or significant joint degeneration.

02

Hemiarthroplasty

In this procedure, the damaged head of the humerus is replaced while the natural socket may be retained depending on the patient’s condition.

03

Reverse Shoulder Replacement

This procedure changes the normal arrangement of the shoulder joint and may be considered for selected patients with significant rotator cuff-related problems.
