Arthroscopic repair is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed to repair torn knee ligaments. During this surgery, the orthopedic surgeon makes three small incisions around the knee to insert a camera (arthroscope) and specialized instruments. The arthroscope sends high-resolution images of the joint’s interior to a monitor, allowing the surgeon to visualize and repair the torn ligament.
If the ligament is torn at the point of attachment to the bone, anchors are used to reattach it. The procedure also allows for the repair of other structures, such as the meniscus, if they are damaged. Since arthroscopic surgery involves only small incisions, patients can often go home the same day and typically experience faster recovery times compared to open surgery. Post-Surgery Recovery: After surgery, patients are usually advised to avoid weight-bearing activities for 10-15 days. Rehabilitation is crucial and involves a combination of physical therapy exercises to restore strength, flexibility, and function to the knee joint. Recovery time varies from 3-6 months, depending on the severity of the injury and the individual’s rehabilitation progress.

The cost of ACL or PCL Arthroscopic Repair Surgery is in the range of Rs. 1 – 1.5 lacs depending upon the type of the implant used in the surgery. The surgery can be done in day care and almost all the patients go home within one of the surgery.
Post surgery rehabilitation is extremely important and should continue for 3-6 months in order to achieve the level of activity which was present before the injury. People engaged in competitive sports need intensive rehab in order to return to the field with the same gusto. Most of the insurance policies will cover the surgery if the accident has taken place after the initiation of the policy.
The insurance companies may raise queries about the time of the accident which have to be answered to their satisfaction before they give the approval for bearing the cost of the treatment However if you are holding an insurance policy which has been provided by your company then the surgery is covered from day one.
You also have to check the room rent eligibility in your insurance policy to make sure that you get the complete claim amount and there are no deductions. If you opt for a higher category room than what you are eligible for, then you may have to bear some expenses for your treatment.
